A feature, mixed-use development within the Paddington Basin, comprising a four storey basement car park, ground and mezzanine commerical space, and three residential towers.

Shockledge were appointed for structural engineering services, taking over from the first phase design team to deliver the building from basement level one, to completion of construction on the superstructure.

The building is constructed as a reinforced concrete frame utilising roll out reinforcement matts and pre-cast columns. Due to the position of the columns being outside the internal building line, for architectural features at ground, the balcony slabs including their thermal connections were designed to be integral with the main slab design. Two transfer slabs facilitated the change in usage from car park to commercial and then residential.

The project is classified as BIM level 2, with all consultants working in Revit and coordinating using shared models and clash detection. Fast production of a BIM and Finite Element model at tender stage enabled key value engineering that reduced reinforcement tonnages by 30% and provided quantity takeoff.
